Goats Eat Their Way Through Park Grass: Photo Of The Day
No lawn mowers are needed with this herd near the former Nike Missile site. Here's a quick history lesson on the Nike Missiles.

CASTRO VALLEY, CA — Rick Kelly shared a recent photo of goats at Anthony Chabot Regional Park, doing their part to eat the grass and other fire fuels near the former Nike Missile site.
Installed in the 1950s, the Nike Missile sites were the first nationwide U.S. air defense system designed to protect against a nuclear attack by the Soviet Union. At one point, the Bay Area was ringed by 12 Nike Missile sites designed to protect residents and the area's multiple military bases. This site was activated in 1956 and decommissioned in 1974.
