Hello Old Castro Valley Library Supporters!Thank you all for your continued support and interest in the reuse of the historically significant former Castro Valley Library. Based on your partnership and advocacy, ECD was able to request full funding for the renovation and reuse of the old Castro Valley Library from Measure W funding. The Board of Supervisors positively received our request to allocate funding over the next two year, along with our current year funding, for a total of $8.5 million for the design and renovation of the building. This would not have been possible without your support, advocacy, and commitment to saving and renovating this community asset. A special thank you to the Veterans who started this effort and to HARD, who will be programming and operating the space, in partnership with the community.

While the Board action on June 2nd confirmed the technical aspects of the

funding allocation, more details will be finalized around our upcoming budget. We are in the process of securing an architect for the renovation. I will keep you all posted on our timeline as we get organized for the project.
