Help Decide What New Housing Should Look Like In Hayward

The City of Hayward is inviting community members to participate in a number of ways during the month of June as residential design standards are updated for what new housing should look like in the City.

Launched in February as the Objective Residential Standards Project, the initiative has been renamed the Hayward Residential Design Study and takes into account all housing types—from detached homes and duplexes to townhouses, multi-household buildings and mixed-use housing projects.

In addition to asking what new housing should look like in Hayward, the purpose—from a new housing production standpoint—is to make design requirements more predictable for builders and for residents of neighborhoods in which new projects are proposed.

To participate and provide input, visit the project page here on the City of Hayward website, complete this community survey, and consider registering for and joining one or more of five “walk-shops” this Saturday, June 25, and Monday, June 27:
