Kids Take to the Skies for Free at Hayward Airport's Young Eagles Program

The Young Eagles program at Hayward Airport pairs kids 8-17 with experienced aviators for free flights on several Saturdays throughout the year.

On Saturday, Aug. 25 parents and kids will gather in a hangar at the Hayward Airport for a chance to take a free flight as a passenger in a small plane.

The free excursion program, called the Young Eagles, is a gift that members of the Vintage Aircraft Association give to area kids ages 8 to 17.

Pat Polehla coordinates the program. Email her at youngeagles29@aol.com or 510-703-1466 to get the release form you will need to sign — and to find out if the weather is good enough for the flight to occur.
