Their photo is featured as Patch's "Photo of the Day," and residents are invited to submit their own high-resolution images showcasing the beauty and fun of Northern California. 
• How nearly 2 million California homes must adjust landscaping under just-approved wildfire rule (fresnobee.com) — Homes in Castro Valley's higher East Bay hills fall into a very high wildfire risk zone and will be subject to California's new "Zone 0" defensible-space rules. Over the next several years, many local homeowners must clear flammable materials within five feet of structures, maintain vegetation, and eventually replace wooden fencing near homes to reduce fire danger.
