PG&E Power Outages Hit 188,000 Bay Area Customers

Thursday night's fierce winds brought down trees and power lines. Some power will not be restored until Saturday.

BAY AREA, CA - The storm that roared through the Bay Area Thursday night knocked out power to 188,000 PG&E customers, a utility spokesperson said Friday.

PG&E spokeswoman Lynsey Paulo reports, "Our crews will be out in force until we get all the power restored."

Most of the power has been restored, but small pockets of customers will have to wait until Saturday until the lights are back on.

"We definitely are experiencing very high winds," Paulo said. "The ground has been saturated for some time now with all the rain and storms we've been experiencing over the last couple of months, and that tends to weaken trees so we've had a lot of tree-caused outages."
