HAYWARD, CA — A child's bicycle, stolen in March on the 21000 block of Meekland Avenue in unincorporated Hayward, was found by a "good Samaritan," cleaned, fixed with the help of a local bike shop and reunited with its owner, the Alameda County Sheriff's Office said Monday.

"We immediately disseminated information regarding the theft, along with a photo of the bicycle to the community," the agency said. "With the help of a good Samaritan, who contacted our Property Crimes Unit, the bicycle was recovered."

However, the bike, reported stolen March 14, was found with missing parts and not in ridable condition. PCU detectives cleaned it and asked bicycle repair shop Area Cycles in Castro Valley to make repairs, so it was in safe, working condition.
