Why Go: Put your boots on and ride over to the 49th annual open rodeo event to watch or participate in calf roping and other events. Kids of all ages are welcome.

Where/When: Yoga in the Middle, 20211 Patio Dr., Ste. 235, Castro Valley; Sunday, Aug. 28, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Why Go: Helping you to connect with your inner Chi, Cora Wen will guide a spiritual journey of discovering your body’s harmony, energyand balance. Wen has been teaching and training other teachers since 1994.

Cost: $50, space permitting

Where/When: Lake Chabot, 17600 Lake Chabot Rd., Castro Valley; Saturday, Aug. 27, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Why Go: Experience Lake Chabot through kayaking before the summer ends. Learn the ropes from certified instructors in single or double kayaks.

Cost: $60 to $66. Registration is required.

Where/When: Chabot College, 25555 Hesperian Blvd., Hayward; Saturday, Aug. 27, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Why Go: See the future of cars. Feast your eyes on the latest electric vehicles featuring the Nissan Lead, Chevy Volt and other environmentally friendly electric transportations.

Cost: Free admission, $2 for parking

Where/When: The Englander Sports Pub and Restaurant, 101 Parrott St., San Leandro, Saturday, Aug. 27, at 8 p.m.

Why Go: Caesars Palace’s very own comedian, Steven Pearl, lights up the stage and will have you laughing till the end of the show. Also starring Bay Area favorite Norm Hazzard.

Cost: $15 in advance (call to order), $20 at the door
