Desert Healthcare District board will not appoint replacement for Zone 1, seat to remain vacant until election (kesq.com) — Cathedral City residents in Desert Healthcare District Zone 1 will go without a board representative until the November election, after directors narrowly decided not to appoint a temporary replacement. The seat, formerly held by Greg Rodriguez, covers Palm Springs, Cathedral City, Palm Desert and Rancho Mirage, and the eventual winner will serve the remaining two years of the term through 2028.

RivCo 'Ham' Radio Enthusiasts Plan 24-Hour `Field Day' Saturday (patch.com subscription) — Cathedral City ham radio operators will join a 24-hour Field Day this weekend, setting up temporary stations to practice emergency communications alongside thousands across North America. Organizers say the annual drill, especially timely after devastating Venezuelan quakes, shows how amateur radio can keep information flowing when phones and internet fail.
