Series of Los Alamitos Race Track Fires Prompt Arson Investigation
Fire investigators are seeking the public's help finding the person responsible for a series of fires set today around the race track.

A series of “miscellaneous” fires erupted near the Los Alamitos Race Course today and investigators said the blazes appeared to be arson, prompting them to ask for the public’s help tracking down a culprit.
There were multiple miscellaneous fires set over an hour, starting at 5 a.m., according to Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Steve Concialdi.
“There’s an open and active investigation going on and we’re asking for the public’s help,” Concialdi said. “If they have any information about these fires call our OCFA fire tip line at (714) 573-6723.”

The blazes caused about $2,000 in damage to pallets and wood chips that are used as animal bedding for the floor of the stables, Concialdi said.
A dozen firefighters sent to 4961 Katella Ave. doused the flames in 20 minutes, Concialdi said. No one was hurt.

The fire burned in an outdoor storage area at a remote location on the property, and no animals were threatened, Concialdi said.
