Mom, Toddler’s Dog Saved But Home Lost During Chico Fire
The mother was out applying for a job when the fire started in her home.
CHICO, CA — Her dog was rescued but her home could not be saved. The community is rallying to help a single mother who recently lost her home and all of her belongings during a fire in Chico. Alexx Collins was out applying for a job last week when she was alerted to the fire thanks to a call from her neighbor.
When she returned to her home on Chestnut Street, firefighters had just pulled her dog from the burning building after extinguishing the flames inside. Boo, who was nearly unconscious due to smoke inhalation, was given oxygen and taken to a nearby animal hospital, according to the Chico Fire-Rescue Twitter.
He has since been released from care and was reunited with the firefighters who saved him, according to a GoFundMe page established to help Collins and her daughter Morty.
