Doug Ose: Why I Am Running For Congress

Dear Residents of the 7th Congressional District,

As you may have heard, I am running for Congress to hold government accountable for the promises it makes, the money it spends and the results it delivers.

Our country is at a crossroads. Government debt, new and higher taxes, and Obamacare are all stifling America’s entrepreneurial spirit and individual liberties.  Trust in government is at historic lows and cynicism about the ability of elected leaders to get things done in Washington, D.C., is increasing.

I am a local business leader and Sacramento native who attended Rio Americano High School and graduated from U.C. Berkeley with a degree in Business Administration.  When I was first elected to Congress in 1998, I promised to serve three consecutive terms and return to private life.  While many made a similar promise, I was one of the few to honor this pledge.

During my Congressional career, I served on the Government Reform Committee, Agriculture Committee and the Financial Services Committee.  For my work in Congress, I was named a Hero of the Taxpayer by Americans for Tax Reform and a Guardian of Small Business by the National Federation of Independent Business.

Since I left Congress in 2004, the world is neither safer, nor is our economy stronger. We need change.

My commitment is clear: As one born and raised in Sacramento, with a record of putting people first, you can count on me to hold government accountable for the promises it makes, the money it spends and the results it delivers. I will help set a clear course for our nation so we can rebuild our local economy and create jobs, and keep America safe. The only special interest I will serve is you.
