Officers recovered most of the newly stolen jewelry and additional evidence from his home and vehicle, tying him to about $109,000 in total losses. Residents may notice ongoing follow‑up at the mall as the case proceeds.

• Head Start often only option for pre-school in rural California (record-bee.com) — Citrus Heights is home to Head Start California's executive office, whose director is weighing in on proposed federal rule changes that could affect preschool standards statewide. Local families using Head Start won't see funding cut, but classroom performance standards and language policies may shift after a federal review and public comment period.
