1. 2026 Citrus Heights Police Logs Spotlight: Aug 20-26 (citrusheightssentinel.com) — Citrus Heights residents can see where police attention went last week, with logs showing 1,245 incidents from Aug. 20–26, including rising vehicle violations and vandalism but fewer disturbances and suspicious circumstances. Police stress the public logs aren't a complete record, and totals may differ from official weekly statistics shared elsewhere.
   

2. Burglars steal $5,800 in instruments from Citrus Heights high school band room (sacbee.com) — Citrus Heights police are asking for the public's help after two suspects allegedly broke into Mesa Verde High School's band room on Aug. 20 and stole instruments worth about $5,800, including a pricey French horn. Crime Stoppers is taking anonymous tips tied to case CH26‑05865, with potential rewards up to $1,000 for information leading to their identification.
   

3. Sacramento County deputies release video of deadly shooting on Interstate 80 near Citrus Heights (cbsnews.com) — Deputies fatally shot a domestic violence suspect on eastbound I-80 near the Antelope Road exit by Citrus Heights after they say he pointed a gun at them. The July incident followed a Rancho Cordova call where a woman reported surviving days of severe beatings. The sheriff's office has now released body camera footage of the shooting online.
   

4. Woodland's Savory Café receives $5,000 grant (dailydemocrat.com) — A Citrus Heights restaurant, Panchito Mexican Restaurant, is among 22 eateries in the greater Sacramento area awarded a $5,000 resilience grant to upgrade equipment, technology, and staff training. The funding comes from PG&E's shareholder-supported Restaurants Care Resilience Fund, which is distributing $1.4 million to small, independently owned restaurants across Northern and Central California this year.
