The project replaces longtime favorite Sunrise Rollerland, with the new owners planning to keep the skating rink while adding a modern arcade, though no opening date has been announced yet.

Hoover bills on digital wellness, social media safeguards signed by governor (folsomtimes.com) — New state laws backed by Assemblyman Josh Hoover will shape how Citrus Heights students learn about digital wellness and how social media platforms handle users under 16. The measures require a statewide plan for teaching safe, healthy tech habits and set new guardrails on youth social media use that will affect local families and schools.
   

3. NorCal school district hit by unexpected 1,200-student enrollment drop (amedpost.com) — Families in Citrus Heights could feel the impact of San Juan Unified's unexpected loss of about 1,200 students, which may cost the district up to $3.7 million this year and more over time. District leaders serving Citrus Heights, Arden-Arcade, Carmichael, and Orangevale are analyzing why enrollment dropped so sharply as they juggle rising special education costs and labor talks.
   

4. Man killed by officers after Highway 50 pursuit identified as Carmichael resident (sacbee.com) — Law enforcement officers, including Citrus Heights police, fatally shot a 61-year-old Carmichael man after a late-night pursuit that began near Folsom and Sunrise and ended on westbound Highway 50. Citrus Heights officers joined CHP and Sacramento County deputies in the chase, deployed spike strips, and were among those who opened fire after authorities say the driver pointed a weapon.
   

5. Suspect charged with multiple felonies at large following Fair Oaks pursuit (fox40.com) — Citrus Heights police confirm they're helping search for a felon who struck a detective with a vehicle before leading officers on a chase that ended near Hazel and Sunset in Fair Oaks. Multiple agencies, including Citrus Heights and Roseville police, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office, and CHP, are still looking for the suspect after residents reported a stranger running through yards.
