Bonita Unified Leaders React to Newtown Shooting
The school district, which serves La Verne, issued a statement in response to the events that transpired at an elementary school in Connecticut.

School districts across the nation reacted to the tragic events that occurred in Newtown, Conn., on Friday morning.
In the wake of the shooting, Bonita Unified School District Superintendent Gary Rapkin, PhD., released the following statement:
The senseless shooting this morning at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut was a terrible tragedy. Our hearts go out to the victims and their families, as well as, the entire school community.

As a mark of respect for the victims, we will fly the United States Flag at half-staff at all of our schools and District Office.
Student and staff safety has been and will continue to be a high priority at each school throughout the Bonita Unified School District. This tragedy will serve to strengthen our commitment and vigilance to maintain safe and secure campuses.
