La Verne PD Looking for Citizens' Academy Recruits

The application deadline is nearing for the La Verne Police Department's Citizens' Academy. The ten-week course teaches locals about the department.

Looking to get more involved in the La Verne community? Sign-ups are underway for the 22nd class of the La Verne Police Department Citizens' Academy.

The Department is accepting applications for their next citizens' academy through March 18. The free, ten-week "educational program designed to enhance community awareness of the various police department functions" will run March 27 through May 29.

"Classes are fun and exciting, many of which are hands on," the police department announced online.

Some of the things participants can expect to learn about include: 

  • traffic stops
  • narcotics
  • building searches
  • collection of crime scene evidence

You have to be at least 18 years old to take part, and must live, work or go to school in the city. Space is limited.
