La Verne PD Get New Glocks
La Verne's Police Department gets greenlight to get new hand guns.

La Verne’s Police Department got the green light from the city recently to add new Glock hand guns to its arsenal.
The council gave the thumbs up earlier this year at a cost of $21,000, which was presented as a budget amendment.
The decision to amend the budget follows a November inspection of all department owned hand guns, according to a La Verne staff report.

“(A) large majority of the weapons exhibited signs of excessive wear and component fatigue,” police officials wrote in a report to the council. “These weapons have been in service for twelve years and are at the end of their reliability cycle.”
The cost of the guns is what is left after a trade in credit for used weapons, police officials said. The funds will be drawn from the asset forfeiture account, according to the staff report.
