Man Arrested at Pomona Motel with Meth, Scale, Packaging Material

Police were sent to the motel after receiving several complaints about narcotics and prostitution at the motel, according to a police statement.

A Rialto man was jailed Wednesday in connection to a weekend drug arrest at a Pomona motel, jail records and police reports indicated.

Officers arrested the 59-year-old man at the Lemon Tree Motel, 1700 Gillette Road, on Sunday, after he was allegedly was carrying about two ounces of methamphetamine that had a street value of approximately $5,000, police said.

Officers sent to the motel at 7:17 a.m. also found a digital scale and "packaging material consistent with sales of methamphetamine," according to a department statement.

Police were sent to the motel after receiving several complaints about narcotics and prostitution at the motel, according to the statement.

"Officers learned of a subject staying in one of the rooms (who) had outstanding warrants," according to the statement.

Jay Charter, a resident of Rialto, was later arrested with the drugs inside his motel room.

Jail records indicated that Charter was being held on $50,000 bail.
