Claremont City Council To Consider Housing Program Funding Oct. 13 (patch.com) — Claremont residents are being asked to weigh in as the City Council considers whether to extend funding for the Temporary Housing Stabilization and Relocation Program at its Oct. 13 meeting. The program, which stopped taking new applications in January, currently provides rental assistance through December and will end Dec. 31 without new funds. Community members can submit written comments by email or speak at the meeting in person or via Zoom.

Claremont's Annual 'Halloween Spooktacular' Returns Oct. 17 (patch.com) — Families in Claremont can look forward to the city's free Halloween Spooktacular returning to Lewis Park on Saturday, Oct. 17, with games, food trucks, and kid-friendly activities. The evening will feature children's and Howl-O-Ween dog costume contests starting at 5:30 p.m., plus a Special Needs Sensory Zone to make the celebration more inclusive. IE Varsity's Week 7 high school football schedule, Oct. 8-10 (modbee.com) — Claremont sports fans can circle Friday, Oct. 9, when Claremont High hosts Chino in Valle Vista League play as part of a packed Inland high school football slate. The full Week 7 schedule lists dozens of league and nonleague matchups across the region, with most kickoffs at 7 p.m. and a few neutral-site games noted.

4. 2027 Grants Will Expand Access to Exercise Programs for People Affected by Cancer (healthandfitness.org) — People in Claremont affected by cancer may soon see expanded exercise-oncology programs at The Claremont Club, thanks to a new American Cancer Society grant. The funding will train at least three staff members in specialized cancer-focused fitness, aiming to make safe, research-backed physical activity more accessible during and after treatment.
