Ultimately, Sharman was positively identified as the victim through her dental records, police said.
"We offer our deepest condolences to the family of this tragic and unfortunate event," Antioch police said in a statement.
An Oakland native and the youngest of seven siblings, Sharlman was reported missing the day before her body was found, according to KRON4.
Sharlman, who went by "Kayla," was studying at Los Medanos College and dreamed of working as a hair and makeup stylist. Her family suspects that in the days leading up to her death, she may have been hanging out with the wrong kind of people, KRON4 reported.
"Now, my mother and my father will never get the opportunity to walk her down the aisle, or her call and say she’s pregnant, or buying her first house," her sister, Nicole Eason, told the news station.
Montalvo's bail was set at $1.5 million as of Wednesday, according to the county jail website. Bail information for Boone was not available online.
Authorities asked anyone with information about the case to contact Antioch police Detective Bill Whitaker at 925- 779-2441 or wwhitaker@antiochca.gov.
