CONCORD, CA – The Concord Senior Center is sponsoring two workshops in September during Fall Prevention Awareness Month. Both workshops will be held at the center, 2727 Parkside Circle.

The first workshop is set for Thursday, Sept. 15 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. and is entitled “Falling Down is Often Life Changing – Learn How to Maintain Your Independence.”

Falls are not an inevitable part of aging. Among older adults, falls are the leading cause of injury deaths, unintentional injuries, and hospital admissions for trauma. Falls can take a serious toll on older adults’ quality of life and independence. The workshop is presented by Alayne Balke, Fall Prevention Program Manager of Fall Prevention of Contra Costa.
