Here are the top five stories today in Concord:

  1. Ah, it's Spring and time for the garden to start blooming with... Schwinns? The Antioch City Council voted for funding for design and planning of a new Bicycle Garden at Prewitt Family Park on Tuesday. The park will be designed by San Francisco-based T.Y. Lin International, the global civil and structural infrastructure engineering firm that designed the Eastern Span of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge. (Antioch Herald)
  2. The Contra Costa Board of Supervisors unanimously denied an appeal of the county planning commission's approval of a 144-unit residential subdivision, on 78.2 acres just outside Martinez, east of Interstate Highway 680. Central Avenue will be the subdivision's main access road, though the neighborhood will also be accessible via Palms Drive. Residents of the area voiced concerns about a lack of egress routes making safety an issue in case of fire or other emergency. (Claycord.com)
  3. A $10,000 reward has been issued in the search for Alexis Gabe. Twenty-four-year-old Oakley resident Gabe was last seen on January 26 in Antioch, California. Investigators have been aggressively pursuing leads in the case and are now requesting the support of the community. The police department is asking the community to report any credible sightings of Gabe, or any information that will lead to her discovery by calling the Oakley Police Department at 925-625-8060.
