Here are the top five stories today in Concord:

  1. With the July 4th weekend underway, it's time to find out what Independence Day parades, fireworks and festivities are going on in 2022 near you in Concord and throughout the East Bay.   2. Looking for water parks to help you stay cool this weekend? Here's a list of water parks to visit in the Bay Area. And, yep, Hurricane Harbor in Concord and The Wave in Dublin are on the list! (NBC Bay Area)
  3. USA Wrestling, FloWrestling and the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum have released the June 2022 rankings for high school girls wrestlers for the 2021-22 season. This national ranking evaluates all girls enrolled in grades 8-12, and athletes from all 50 states are eligible for selection. Concord's own Amit Elor a senior at College Park High School took first place! Congratulations Amit! (TeamUSA.org)
  4. Women Forward International is sponsoring a visit of the Mexican Association of Vegan Entrepreneurs (EVM), from Monterrey, Mexico to come and check out White Pony Express' model for food distribution. White Pony Express has what they call a "food rescue program" that rescues a daily average of 12,000+ pounds of high-quality, surplus, fresh food from over 50 local food outlets that would otherwise to go waste and redistributes it to food insecure people in the region. EVM is looking to adopt parts of this program to help alleviate food insecurity in Mexico. (Pioneer Publishers)
  5. Rolex thieves strike again. This time it was a couple sitting in their car in the 200 block of Lafayette Circle. They were approached by a man in a hoodie brandishing a firearm. The gunman got into a car described as a black Infiniti sedan and was last seen making the turn onto Mount Diablo Boulevard. Fortunately, nobody was injured in the incident. (News 24/680)

  • Join Visit Concord before Tuesday Night Blues at Todos Santos during their Music at the Fountain series July 12 and July 26 featuring local Bay Area acoustic musicians. Take a break from the hustle and bustle of summer with some relaxing tunes then continue the night at Tuesday Night Blues. (Visit Concord via Instagram)
  • The Contra Costa County clerk-recorder's office will stay open late on Thursdays in July and August. The extended hours are until 7 p.m. and the office will be providing all clerk and recorder services. (Claycord.com)
