Firefighter Injured Battling Grass Fire Along Hwy 4 In Concord
An incident report about this week's Point Fire revealed a firefighter was injured battling the blaze that burned multiple power lines.
CONCORD, CA — A firefighter was injured while battling a wildfire earlier this week in Concord, the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District said in a report.
The fire referenced in the report occurred Tuesday at state Highway 4 and Willow Pass Road.
At 2:30 p.m., two Con Fire engine crews were dispatched to the Point Fire along eastbound SR-4. When they got to the scene, the blaze had already burned about a half-acre of grass and trees, according to the report.

Faced with high wind conditions and difficult terrain, Con Fire Engine 6 requested a full vegetation response, which included Cal Fire resources.

The Federal Fire Department also responded because the fire was partially on MOTCO — Military Ocean Terminal, Concord —property.

It took about two hours of firefighting from the ground and with air support to contain the blaze.
The Point Fire — also called the Willow Fire — was contained to 30 acres.
No structures were lost but multiple power poles burned and fell, complicating the situation, Con Fire stated in the report.
Thirty-seven fire personnel responded to the incident. Personnel from California Highway Patrol and PG&E were also at the scene.
One firefighter from Federal Fire suffered a heat emergency. The firefighter was treated at the scene by Con Fire paramedics and did not require hospitalization.
The cause of the blaze remained under investigation, according to the incident report.
