Free Shuttle Bus Along Monument Corridor Starts Next Week

CONCORD, CA – The city of Concord and a local nonprofit are launching a free shuttle bus program starting next week along the busy Monument Boulevard corridor, city officials said.
Starting next Monday, a shuttle bus will run on three different routes in the area, operating between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., with extended service until 8 p.m. on Tuesdays, according to the city.
The shuttle service, a partnership between the city and the nonprofit Monument Impact, is designed to help low-income workers, seniors, people with disabilities and residents without vehicles.

It will run about every 45 minutes, with stops at destinations including the Concord BART station, Monument Impact's offices, downtown Concord, the Concord Senior Center, John Muir Medical Center's Concord campus, La Clinica de la Raza and the Monument Crisis Center.

Residents along Monument Boulevard "face significant transportation needs and have worked diligently to make this shuttle service a reality," Mike Van Hofwegen, executive director of Monument Impact, said in
a statement.
The nonprofit offers programs including English classes and legal rights and health care workshops at low or no cost to residents.
The shuttle program is funded by Measure J transportation sales tax funds managed by the Contra Costa Transportation Authority.
