Here are the top stories in Concord today:
- Concord police are seeking the driver of a Mercedes-Benz sedan in connection with a hit-and-run collision Friday that injured a driver. The crash happened shortly after 10:30 a.m. when the Mercedes driver exited an apartment complex at 1441 Detroit Ave. and collided with a Ford sedan. The Ford driver suffered a minor injury and was taken to a nearby hospital. The collision remained under investigation Friday; police asked any witnesses to call Traffic Officer Nanthasiri at 925-671-5096. (Concord Patch)
- Mt. Diablo High School's Jr. ROTC placed in all three events at the 17th annual Weston Ranch High School Sports Competition for the best overall performance among the 10 battalions taking part last month in Stockton. Ronnie McGee, a retired U.S. Army Sgt. First Class, runs the Concord school's JROTC. McGee's program at MDHS includes 140 students, about 60% female. He says the purpose of the Weston Ranch event was to challenge cadets to support teamwork, motivation, cooperation and have fun. (Pioneer Publishers)
- A hoist truck apparently carrying poles to a construction site at the I680/SR4 transition toppled Friday night, spilling its load, injuring a driver and tying up traffic for several hours as California Highway Patrol officers and freeway workers dealt with a resultant fuel spill and damaged light poles. (News 24/680)
- A nonverbal autistic man from Pittsburg was reported missing on Friday afternoon and is now being sought by Concord police. The Concord Police posted on Twitter that Tony Doan, 18, walked away from Loma Vista Adult Education Center. Anyone with information regarding Doan's whereabouts is urged to contact the concord Police Department at 925-671-3333. (Concord News Journal)
- Congressman Jerry McNerney (CA-09) announced the return of his annual "Holiday Cards for Our Troops" program. Through this program, constituents are invited to submit cards to either of the Congressman's district offices, which will be delivered to troops at home and overseas during the upcoming holiday season. To participate in the program, make or purchase a holiday card and write a message of thanks to a service member. Cards must be delivered to Congressman McNerney's offices in Stockton or Antioch by Friday, November 19th, 2021. (East County Today)
