Local Schools Set to Begin State Basketball Playoffs

The 2011 high school basketball state playoff brackets were released Sunday with several locals schools receiving high seeds.

In Division I,  (24-5) was seeded No. 2 and will host the winner of Tuesday's game between McClymonds (17-14) of Oakland and Granite Bay (26-4) at a site to be determined on Thursday at 7 p.m. 

Across the street,  (26-4) learned it is the No. 2 seed on the girls' side and will take on the winner of Gunn (19-6) of San Jose and Armijo (24-6) of Fairfield on Thursday.

In boys' Division II, Walnut Creek rivals Northgate (23-6) and Las Lomas (25-5) will both start their NorCal playoffs runs on Tuesday. Las Lomas will host Cordova (22-7) of Rancho Cordova on Tuesday and Northgate will make the 87-mile trek to play at Antelope (25-6).

In girls' Division II,  (26-3) will host Chico (17-8) on Tuesday.
