• Pedestrian Suffers Serious Injuries In Contra Costa Crash (patch.com) — A pedestrian was seriously injured after being hit by a vehicle at Clayton Road and Talisman Way in Concord on Tuesday afternoon, prompting a partial road closure. Concord police say the driver stayed at the scene and cooperated, and they are asking anyone who witnessed the crash to contact their traffic investigator with information.
   

• Waymo Just Took a Crucial Step Toward Self-Driving Cars in the 925 Bay Area Telegraph (bayareatelegraph.com) — Concord is now officially on Waymo's map for future paid, driverless rides, after California regulators approved a major expansion of the company's East Bay service area. Waymo can begin rolling out robotaxis across Contra Costa County, but must still map, test, and gradually launch in each city. Residents may first notice more Waymo cars with human drivers quietly mapping local streets.
   

• 2 California Men Arrested in Fatal Vehicle Smash Robbery (nationaljeweler.com) — Sacramento County investigators arrested two men in connection with a deadly smash-and-grab robbery at a south Sacramento jewelry store, tracking suspects across multiple cities. One of the men was taken into custody in Concord, showing how regional law enforcement cooperation and license plate reader technology helped close the case months after the fatal incident.
