Here are the top stories in Concord today:
- When firefighters responded to a call in the 3500 block of Euclid Avenue, they arrived to find one individual deceased. Concord Police are now saying that the individual died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. They also believe he is the one that started the fire at the home. His name has not been release, pending notification of next of kin. (Concord Patch)
- The victims in a wrong-way crash in Pittsburg on Thursday have been identified. They are Lasaundra Goode, 44, of Vacaville, and Tiara Tucker, 27, Mariah Mihailovic, 5, Keilani Johnson-Ochoa, 4, and Kaliyah Johnson-Ochoa, 9, all four from Vallejo, the sheriff's office said. Tucker was driving a Hyundai eastbound in the westbound lanes of Highway 4 just after midnight, when the crash occurred. There were no survivors. (Concord Patch)
- Concord Police conducted a DUI checkpoint on Friday night and one person was arrested as a result. "Funding for this DUI Patrol was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration." (Claycord.com)
- Just in time for the holidays "the City of Concord and the Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce have relaunched the popular Shop Concord e-gift card program." The City of Concord has given a contribution of $10,000 for a bonus gift card for every gift card purchased, while supplies last. The bonus cards will remain available until the $10,000 runs out. (Pioneer Publishers)
- With a win over Pittsburg, De La Salle takes home their 30th straight North Coast Section title. They now also have an automatic bid into the CIF State Regional tournament. "The victory was also De La Salle's sixth straight win on the season after a challenging 3-3 start." (Scorebook Live)
