Suspect In Shooting Of Man Found In Street Arrested: Contra Costa Sheriff

A man found in Concord was arrested in a Bethel Island homicide after Contra Costa Sheriff's manhunt.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — Detectives from the Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit arrested a suspect in connection with the death of a man found shot on a street.

The suspect was found in Concord a day after deputies responded to reports of a shooting on the 3200 block of Dutch Slough Road in Bethel Island. There, they found Martinez resident Edward Garofalo in the street, where he was pronounced dead.

They found a 40-year-old Pittsburg man suspected in the shooting in Concord at about 4:45 p.m. on Feb. 24.

He was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on suspicion of murder and is being held in lieu of $1 million bail, the sheriff’s office said.
