Baseball: Coronado Tops Christian in City Tourney
The Islanders earn an 11-5 victory behind big days at the plate by Brownell, Meloche and Smerdon.
Senior designated hitter Tyler Brownell sparked the Coronado High baseball team to an 11-5 win over host Christian on Tuesday, lifting the Islanders' record to 7-4 overall and 2-2 in City Conference Tournament play.
Brownell wass 3-for-5 at the plate, with a double, three RBI, two runs scored and a pair of stolen bases. Junior first baseman Jake Meloche went 2-for-4, with a double, an RBI and a run scored. Senior second baseman Garrett Smerdon had three hits in four at-bats, with an RBI and a run scored.
Luke Gillingham was the winning pitcher, going five innings and striking out six. (#8).
