Islanders Win 11-4 to Advance to Boys Lacrosse Final

Coronado will face Cathedral Catholic in Saturday's Division II championship game at Westview.

The Coronado High boys lacrosse team earned a berth in Saturday's San Diego Section Division II championship game with an 11-4 home victory over San Marcos High on Wednesday night.

The Islanders will face Cathedral Catholic for the title at 3 p.m. Saturday at Westview High. The Dons advanced with a 4-3 win over Bishop's.

Coronado, now 18-4, held a 3-1 lead after the first quarter and was in from 6-3 at the half before outscoring San Marcos 5-1 in the second half to pull away.

“San Marcos is a very tough team and they are certainly playing some good lacrosse right now," said Islanders coach Alex Cade. "We were struggling with our shooting tonight. We had a ton of shots but they had a really good goalie with a bunch of saves."

“The basics, we always focus on the fundamentals,” said Cade. “Coronado lacrosse is about grinding and digging in."
