Islanders Win 16-3 to Reach Girls Lacrosse Final

Coronado routs Canyon Crest Academy and will face Cathedral Catholic in Saturday's Division II championship.

The Coronado High girls lacrosse team kept pace with the Islanders boys squad Thursday night by reaching the San Diego Section Division II championship game with a 16-3 victory over Canyon Crest Academy.

Caroline Carlson and Kaitlyn Couture each scored five goals as the Islanders (19-1) advanced to meet Cathedral Catholic in the 11 a.m. title game Saturday at Westview High. The same two schools will meet in the boys' championship match at 3 p.m.

“We came out strong, we maintained control, we worked fast breaks, and we had goals and assists all over the field,” said Islanders coach Jessica Battle "We’ve had a phenomenal season, and if we just continue to play like we do, I am very confident what the outcome will be Saturday.”
