Simon’s theme for Holiday 2014 is “Spread Love.” From the love of giving to those who matter to children’s love of Santa to celebrating love through holiday festivities with family and friends. Join Simon to experience the season’s good cheer with the best of holiday shopping and entertainment.
During the holiday season Fashion Valley will offer several additional amenities for guests, including complimentary personal shoppers and a coat and package check, as well as a holiday social media concierge. In addition, giftwrap stations will be available from November 28 through December 24 in Center Court, near Santa’s House. Proceeds from the stations will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association, YMCA and Simon Youth Foundation.
Fashion Valley will also host several holiday events this season. The annual Tree Lighting ceremony will kick off the season on November 29, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 pm in Prada Court. The event will be emceed by San Diego 6 anchor Heather Myers and will feature children’s crafts, refreshments, and a festive show by the Salvation Army brass band as they perform popular holiday carols. The first 200 revelers in line to make the nice list will receive Fashion Valley swag bags filled with retailer surprises.
Throughout the event and through Christmas Eve, guests are invited to help children in need by visiting Salvation Army’s Gingerbread House located next to Santa’s unique holiday home. Hosted by The Salvation Army’s Santa’s Little Helpers, the Gingerbread House will be decorated with tags with a child’s name, age and gift wish. Guests are encouraged to take a tag and return with a gift, or a Simon Giftcard®, for the child that they selected.
The Salvation Army will also host an All Star Bell Ringing with local celebrities ringing bells at Fashion Valley on December 2, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., with over seven bell stations around the mall.
“One of the great traditions of holiday shopping at Fashion Valley is the annual family visit to the Simon Santa Photo Experience,” said Christopher Lane, director of marketing and business development at Fashion Valley. “I know Santa can’t wait to greet children bringing him their holiday wishes.”
Caring Santa provides a sensory-friendly environment for families of children with special needs, to safely experience the time-honored tradition and magic of Santa on Sunday, December 7 and December 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 am. Guests can register in advance at simon.com/caringsanta. Caring Santa events have expanded from seven Simon malls in 2011 to over 100 Simon malls today, reflecting the positive impact of this unique program. In 2013, Simon and The Noerr Programs were honored by Community Gatepath, earning a Community Impact Award for their efforts in pioneering Caring Santa.
The popular Pet Photo Night returns to the Simon Santa Photo Experience at Fashion Valley this year. Many pet owners view their pet as an integral member of the family and are just as committed in caring for their pets as their “human” family members. Pet Photo nights are hosted after regular mall closing and the set gets an extensive cleaning following the event to remove any potential risk to allergy sufferers. Pet Photo Night at Fashion Valley will be held on Sunday, November 16, and Sunday, December 7 from 6 p.m. to 7 pm. Guests must keep pets on leashes at all times, and are encouraged to park in Parking Structure A or B near Macy’s and enter the mall through the corridors next to Macy’s (not through Macy’s).
The Noerr Programs, providers of the Simon Santa Photo Experience, will be sharing the heart of Santa online this holiday season through “BeMerrySanta®”, where families can keep up with Santa’s daily musings on his Facebook page at facebook.com/BeMerrySanta, on Twitter @BeMerrySanta or Instagram at BeMerrySanta. Parents can also share their child’s good deed with Santa by going to his Magical Badge Generator at simon.bemerrysanta.com. After their child creates their badge, they can show Santa on a mobile device or print out their child’s customized badge. He will merrily reward each child for their kind act with a very special chocolate treat from Lindt, while supplies last.
Guests to every Noerr set will have another opportunity to share Santa’s heart by making a donation via The Noerr Programs to Save the Children. For nearly 100 years, this non-profit has given underserved children in the U.S. a healthy start, the opportunity to learn and protection from harm. Since this program began four years ago, Noerr has collected over $708,000 largely due to the generosity of Simon shoppers. Each holiday season, Noerr kicks off the fundraising campaign by visiting a Save the Children location. Each launch is connected to a Simon mall. This year, Santa will travel to the community of Union, South Carolina to spread holiday cheer for those in need.
