Police Lead Car Parade Honoring Culver City Health Care Heroes

CULVER CITY, CA — Police honored health care workers outside Southern California Community Hospital in Culver City Wednesday with a car parade that included sirens, lights and thank you signs outside the hospital.

Hospital staff stood outside to greet police officers. Culver City Mayor Göran Eriksson also presented the hospital with a certificate of service and health care workers received meals to keep the celebration going.

Southern California Community Hospital employees have been on the front line of the coronavirus pandemic in Los Angeles County.

Back in March, Southern California Hospital at Culver City began temperature screening employees and patients to determine if they posed a risk of spreading COVID-19, according to a news release. It's one of the many steps the hospital is taking to protect patients and employees fighting the pandemic.

“We have implemented an enhanced COVID-19 screening algorithm for direct admission patients,” said Chief of Staff Jamshid Niknam, MD in a news release. “All direct admissions are being routed through our emergency department to ensure patients are being screened for potential COVID-19 criteria.”
