Upcoming Culver City General Plan 2045 Engagement Opportunities

As we adapt to the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and demonstrations against systemic racism that has led to the murder of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and countless others, we wanted to reach out and send our best wishes to you and your families. We also wanted to take a moment to affirm the importance of your input throughout the General Plan Update (GPU) process. In these times, we encourage you to continue to come together, share your thoughts, and engage (all virtually, of course).

Culver City has a big opportunity ahead of us. The General Plan Update (GPU) offers Culver City a chance to develop a roadmap that reflects our community’s values, making Culver City the best it can be for our residents, workers, and visitors. We know that Culver City has not always meaningfully and consistently engaged marginalized groups, particularly communities of color, in city conversations and responded effectively to their concerns. Our goal is to ensure the GPU process is transparent and holds us accountable to engaging and listening to every community. This effort will result in a visionary new 25-year citywide plan that will help create a prosperous, sustainable, and inclusive environment for all. The GPU will cover topics that affect everyone, including housing, transportation, public safety, equity, arts and culture, sustainability, and more.

The Speaker Series, General Plan Advisory Committee (GPAC) meetings, and other GPU engagement events will be virtual for the time being to keep things moving with the GPU and comply with the stay at home order for COVID-19. This allows us to meet you where you are, even with the current restrictions. However, we recognize that using an online platform may impact who can participate, including those with limited access to technology. We also understand that there are many constraints with which everyone's grappling, which may impact your ability to participate or be fully engaged in this process. We are thinking through other ways not to lose steam on the engagement efforts and capture the diverse perspectives and experiences of all who live, work, and play in Culver City.

Our first Educational Forum video is on existing economic conditions in Culver City. Each video is paired with a “microsurvey” where you can share your experiences, ideas, and questions on the topic.
