Apple iPhone 7 Event: Live Stream, What to Expect

Apple's annual event is scheduled to take place from San Francisco starting at 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET.

Apple is widely expected to reveal the iPhone 7 — the latest version of the iPhone — at its keynote Sept. 7, and speculation is swirling over what new features the signature phone will have.

The event starts at 10 a.m. Pacific Time at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco. Apple will also live stream the event on its website. The event can be viewed on Safari 6.0.5 or later on OS X v 10.8.5 for those using Apple computers and on Microsoft Edge browser for Windows computers with Windows 10. The event can also be viewed on iPhones, iPads or on the iPod Touch. Streaming via Apple TV requires an Apple TV (second or third generation) with software 6.2 or later or an Apple TV (fourth generation).

In terms of what features the new iPhone will have and what other products and software updates Apple will reveal on Tuesday, technology reporters have curated the expected new features and improvements, weeding out the rumors.

Apple is expected to release two phones, the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus. The three main features we can expect are a new and improved camera, the removal of the headphone jack and more storage. Apple is also expected to reveal a new version of the Apple watch. The Apple Watch was launched 18 months ago and there has not been a new version since.

The Camera

The new camera is expected to be a huge improvement from the past. TechCrunch reported the camera will be bigger and the flash more effective. The iPhone 7 Plus is expected to get the biggest camera update with a dual-lens camera, both TechCrunch and Mashable reported.

The Heaphone Jack

The headphone jack is likely going away, giving way to a slimmer design. According to TechCrunch, "Apple could ship the iPhone 7 with a Lightning-to-headphone adapter as well as Lightning EarPods. Apple will also introduce new Beats headphones for those who want to pay more to switch to a wireless option."

Phone Memory

The base model of the iPhone could start with 32 GB of storage, and the iPhone Plus could come with as much as 256 GB of storage, according to Mashable.

At the event, Apple will also walk us through iOS 10 and macOS Sierra.

Gene Munster, an analyst with Piper Jaffray, told USA Today he projects Apple will sell 236 million units of the new iPhones, compared to 215 million for the 6S and 231 million for the 6. Munster says the reason for this is the large number of people who have older phones, going back to the 5S, who will need to update their phones.
