CACCC Receives $1,000 Sponsorship Grant from Kaiser Permanente

April 14, 2026 – Cupertino CA – The Chinese American Coalition for Compassionate Care (CACCC) receives a $1,000 sponsorship grant from Kaiser Permanente (KP) South Bay and Central Coast for its Suicide Prevention: Be Sensitive, Be Brave (BSBB) Workshop, conducted in Mandarin and Cantonese, to be held virtually on Saturday, May 2, 2026 from 4:30 pm-8:30 pm PDT. The KP sponsorship grant will support trainings towards safe messaging, dispelling the stigma surrounding the topic of suicide, and encourage those at risk to access care sooner, among Chinese American residents of Santa Clara County.

“Per the CDC, suicide is preventable and is a serious public health problem that has long-lasting effects on individuals, families, and communities,” said Alex Tsao, PhD, CACCC Co-Executive Director. “Preventing suicide requires strategies at all levels of society,” added Cynthia X. Pan, MD, CACCC Co-Executive Director. “This includes prevention and protective strategies for individuals, families, and communities.”

In collaboration and partnership with Santa Clara County Behavioral Services Prevention Services Division, San Mateo County Health Behavioral Health & Recovery Services, and Community Connections, the foundational workshop, conducted in Mandarin & Cantonese, to participants ages 18-44 years and older, individuals living with serious illness, residing in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties, will teach and train Chinese American community members to act as eyes and ears for suicidal distress and connect individuals to help.
