Cupertino Says Aloha to Coconut’s Fish Cafe

Local Couple Brings Hawaiian Sensation to Silicon Valley

The wait is over in the South Bay.

Coconut’s Fish Cafe, the famed home of Hawaiian fish tacos and the wildly popular phenomenon that has become an unquestioned sensation on the mainland, is opening its doors May 8 in Cupertino. This marks the brand’s second cafe in California, joining the Sacramento location. It is the first Coconut’s franchise location to open in the state.

Chad and Lisa Webb, local Silicon Valley residents who each have more than 20 years of retail store management experience, are opening the cafe at the southeast corner of Stevens Creek Blvd. and Blaney Ave. The duo has completed a thorough overhaul of the longstanding building at the corner, redeveloping the interior and exterior, which now includes indoor and outdoor seating for up to 120 guests and 28 parking spaces.

“The excitement for Coconut’s in the South Bay is extraordinary and we plan to give our guests an experience that only this brand can deliver. They’re going to walk in and instantly be transported to the islands in every way,” said Chad, who has lived and worked in Santa Clara County his entire life. “We’re ecstatic to share Coconut’s with all of our friends, family and neighbors.”

Adding to the excitement about Coconut’s in the area, the Webbs plan to open three more Coconut’s Fish Cafes in Santa Clara County during the next three years.

Since the 2009 opening of its first location in Kihei, Hawaii on the island of Maui, Coconut’s has provided guests the opportunity to enjoy a variety of flavorful fish tacos, sandwiches and salads made with the freshest ingredients. Plus, the restaurant features vibrant colors, custom surfboard tables and Hawaiian décor that electrify the atmosphere.

During the location’s opening week, Coconut’s Fish Cafe is hosting several celebrations, including a welcome party for a limited number of guests. Event details will be made available on the Coconut’s Fish Cafe Facebook page.

Coconut’s Fish Cafe has become a sensation. The fish taco cafe has a culture and flavor that commands a global fan base, consistently topping best-food lists, receiving widespread food-critic acclaim and winning over the hearts of discerning customers who have made it a top restaurant on Yelp and TripAdvisor.

“With where this new location is situated, just a half mile from Vallco Shopping Mall and in extremely close proximity to the biggest tech companies in the world, this first cafe in Santa Clara County represents a tremendous opportunity for us to make a huge splash,” said Michael Phillips, founder and CEO of Coconut’s Fish Cafe, who still owns and operates the first location in Kihei. “Together with Chad and Lisa, we are giving Cupertino a new dose of dining excellence.”

Coconut’s offers value to its customers unlike any other concept. Nowhere else is fish of such high quality offered at such an affordable price. In fact, at upscale restaurants, the same pieces of fish are sold for $40 or more.

The Cupertino location is open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. To learn more about Coconut’s, visit www.coconutsfishcafe.com or call (408) 216-9553 for additional information.
