Cupertino's Rep. Honda To Host 'Social Security Town Hall'

On the agenda: Plans for a bill to "scrap the cap" to eliminate the limit high earners pay to Social Security.

CUPERTINO, CA – The office of Congressman Mike Honda (CA-Silicon Valley), who represents areas including Cupertino and Sunnyvale, announced today plans for a "Town Hall" session next week to discuss his proposed bill affecting Social Security.

"On Wednesday morning, Aug. 17, Congressman Mike Honda (CA-Silicon Valley) will host a town hall to discuss a bill he is introducing in Congress this September, which will end the cap that exempts wealthiest Americans from paying Social Security taxes on income above $118,500 in order to increase benefits and extend the solvency of Social Security," his office said.

"Social Security is the single most important source of income for many senior citizens and it is lifting 56 million Americans out of poverty. This year, Americans receiving Social Security were denied a cost of living increase, despite rising health care costs and other expenses."
