• Election 2026: Forum for local school board candidates set (mercurynews.com) — Cupertino voters can hear directly from Fremont Union High School and Foothill–De Anza Community College district candidates at a free Sept. 30 noon forum at Quinlan Community Center, no registration required. Another free Mid-Autumn Moon Celebration at Cupertino Village on Sept. 26 will feature lion dances, martial arts, children's lantern crafts, and moon cake samples, offering families a lively way to enjoy local Chinese culture. 
• Cupertino approves law enforcement contract after long fight (sanjosespotlight.com) — Cupertino has approved a five-year, $25.4 million annual contract with the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office, ending a tense standoff over a 34% cost increase that threatened to pull deputies from the city. Leaders say they've budgeted the higher cost for now using reserves, while still pressing for more transparent accounting and hoping to avoid future service cuts.
