CUPERTINO, CA —Each year on Thanksgiving Day, Cupertino Rotarians, in partnership with Safeway, key community organizations, and local schools, deliver fully prepared Thanksgiving meals (each meal feeds 6-8 people) on Thanksgiving morning to over 120 pre-selected families in need.
Recipients are selected by five partner organizations: West Valley Community Services, Fremont Union School District, Cupertino Union School District, Cupertino Senior Center, Live Oak Adult Center, Cupertino.
These organizations provide lists of approximately fifteen to thirty-plus recipients each to make up the final list of families in the in the Cupertino community.

The list of approximately 50 or 60 volunteer including 10 to 15 Boys Scouts and Students from the Interact Club, delivery is arranged by the Cupertino Rotary Club prior to Thanksgiving, which is preplanned over a six -week period of time.
Each volunteer delivers one to two dinners to his or her assigned families Thanksgiving morning.

“This community project is very special, as we meet the families and appreciate the positive and joyous reaction we receive when they receive their meal,“ said George Denise, project chair, Cupertino Rotary.
“Some of us deliver more than two meals, said Henry Buffalow, Cupertino Rotary’s Community Services Chair. “ In my case my daughter, son in law and two grandsons have been delivering for many years. They look forward to it and the boys get free donuts,” he added.
“Safeway believes strongly in community partnership. We’re proud to support the Cupertino Rotary Club’s annual Thanksgiving meals program. We commend their ongoing efforts to help feed local families during the holiday season,”said Wendy Gutshall, Director of Public and Government Affairs.
“West Valley Community Services puts together a list of families we know are in need and we pass on to Cupertino Rotary with instructions and directions for Thanksgiving dinner delivery,” said Christine Nguyen, West Valley Community Services of Cupertino. “We appreciate the work Cupertino Rotary is doing especially during the holiday season when families in need value the support and care,” she added.
