DANVILLE, CA — A four-hour traffic enforcement crackdown in Danville Wednesday netted 63 citations, the Danville Police Department reported.

The crackdown took place throughout Danville, but the downtown area was more heavily patrolled, police said.

"What prompted this enforcement action was a recent increase in vehicle collisions in the downtown area," Danville police said. "Additionally, the holiday season is approaching, which often brings with it an increase in motorist and pedestrian traffic downtown. In order to avert future potential collisions, officers were on the lookout for distracted driving, insufficient stops, speed and pedestrian right of way."
