Danville Church Collects 500 Bags Of Groceries For Those In Need
The food collected during the 'Summer of Hope' food drive was donated to the Cityteam Oakland.
DANVILLE, CA — Members of the Community Presbyterian Church in Danville collected more than 500 bags of groceries during its Summer of Hope food drive. All of the food collected was given to Cityteam Oakland, a nonprofit organization that serves more than 100 Oakland families, according to CPC.
"Summer donations are so important to our community because donations go down but need goes up," Angela Teixeira Oakland Executive Director of Cityteam Oakland said. "When children aren’t going to school they don’t have access to resources like free school lunches which can leave children of low income families home alone and hungry during the summer."
Cityteam is a nondenominational Christian nonprofit compassionately serving the poor, the homeless, and the lost in San Jose, Chester, San Francisco, Oakland, and Portland.
