Danville Man Charged In Pedestrian's Crosswalk Death

The 70-year-old faces misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter for June 2 collision that killed Joyce Huang​, 32 of Danville, police said.

DANVILLE, CA — A 70-year-old Danville man was charged with misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter following a police investigation into a June 2 collision that killed pedestrian Joyce Huang, 32, at a Danville intersection, authorities said Thursday.

Last week, the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office filed the solo charge against the driver, Steven Seltzer, the Danville Police Department said.

The filing followed Danville police traffic unit's findings that Seltzer’s failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk caused the fatal incident, officials said.

The accident occurred at approximately 8:06 p.m. June 2 at the intersection of Camino Tassajara and Wood Ranch Road, police said.

Huang, a Danville resident, was declared dead at the scene, and the roadway was closed for several hours as officers investigated.

Seltzer remained at the crash site and cooperated with the investigation, police said, adding that he remains out of custody.
