Danville Teen Raises Thousands For Local Businesses

Tri-Valley residents can support Danville and Pleasanton businesses with money that would otherwise go toward a morning coffee run.

TRI-VALLEY, CA — Lindsey Lonergan of Danville said her morning routine used to include a morning stop at the coffee shop. But while sheltering in place, Longergan is encouraging Tri-Valley residents to take the money they'd otherwise be spending at a coffee shop and donate it to support local businesses through her "Community Cup" fundraiser.

So far "Community Cup" has raised more than $5,300 through GoFundMe.

"Since we can’t go buy a cup of coffee, why not use that money you would have normally spent and give it directly to local businesses?" she wrote.

Lonergan said on her website that money raised will be given to donors' local Chamber of Commerce. The chamber will in turn support local shops looking to reopen.

Lonergan oversees Danville operations and Ria Singhania oversees Pleasanton operations. Anyone interested in signing up to support their local Chamber of Commerce may do so here.

"Soon, we will all be able to support our favorite businesses in person," she wrote. "Until then, pour a cup of compassion, knowing every dollar donated, flows directly to your downtown!"
