Contra Costa Animal Services asked for the public's help to find a pitbull that fatally attacked a dog as it was walked by its owner through a Diablo neighborhood. Authorities are seeking out the potentially dangerous dog and its owner after the unprovoked attack on Sunday, Jan. 30 on the 100 block of Clydesdale Drive near St. Timothy's Episcopal Church. .
Crews started the $50 million rehabilitation of Interstate 680. The Caltrans project will fix up, and in some cases replace, all eight lanes of the busy freeway stretching 12.8 miles from Rudgear Road in Walnut Creek to Alcosta Boulevard in Dublin. .

Longtime Danville Area Chamber of Commerce CEO, Melony Newman, stepped down due to health issues. Newman served as President and CEO for the chamber for the last eight years. She recently moved to Portland, Oregon to be with her husband and take care of a heart condition. .
Marin County Health officials confirmed norovirus was present at Walker Creek Ranch when about 60 people, including 34 people from Danville, got sick at science camp. The health department released a letter Monday about lab tests of stool samples, which showed some people who got sick at the ranch had norovirus in their systems. .

The area served by the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District became one of the first in Contra Costa County to earn a HeartSafe designation from Contra Costa County Health Services. The distinction was earned through points, or “heart beats," awarded for an enhanced 911 system, highly trained first responders, access to automated external defibrillators (AEDs) and having at least 10 percent of the population CPR trained. .
Residents are divided over proposed tennis court lighting at Round Hill Country Club in Alamo. Round Hill Country Club supporters say adding tennis court lights will improve community ties and safety. Opponents are concerned with late-night usage, noise and traffic. The issue will be discussed at the Alamo MAC meeting Tuesday night. .
