DANVILLE, CA — PG&E’s regional vice president will address concerns over repeated power outages at an upcoming Danville Town Council meeting, the town announced.

Danville and Alamo have endured frequent outages over the past year. On Monday, Aug. 14, nearly 8,000 customers lost power for several hours. Two days later, nearly 300 customers in Alamo lost power during a planned outage. During the heavy rainstorms of December through March, Danville and Alamo were some of the hardest hit areas, and suffered repeated mass outages.

The Town of Danville issued a statement telling residents that while it does not directly manage utilities, it is working with PG&E to explain and minimize the repeated outages. Town Manager Joe Calabrigo sent a letter to the company’s CEO, senior vice president and vice president via the town’s government representative.

“The letter outlined the concerns many of you have shared with us, including unpredictable outages, concern for elderly and at-risk populations, impacts on public safety, and general frustration over repeated and unexplained outages,” the town said. “Our residents deserve a reliable power system, and they deserve to be heard when local utilities cannot deliver.”

Calabrigo’s letter also invited PG&E executives to attend a Town Council meeting on Sept. 5, which Bay Area Region Vice President Aaron Johnson will attend. The public is invited to voice their concerns in person at the Town Meeting Hall. The agenda and links will be posted here Sept. 1.
