Police Detain Danville Man, San Leandro Woman Following Pursuit

An officer attempted to make a traffic stop shortly after 10 a.m. near the intersection of Sycamore Valley Road and San Ramon Valley Blvd.

Danville police detained a man and woman after they allegedly fled from officers in a stolen car late this morning, according to a town spokesman. A police canine ultimately helped locate 23-year-old San Leandro resident Amy Ramos and 27-year-old Danville resident Christopher Ramos, according to police.

Danville police Lt. Allan Shields said officers are still trying to determine the relationship between Amy Ramos and Christopher Ramos. He said they are not married and are not siblings. An officer attempted to make a traffic stop shortly after 10 a.m. near the intersection of Sycamore Valley Road and San Ramon Valley Boulevard. The driver, identified by police as Christopher Ramos, failed to yield and fled from police instead, Danville town spokesman Geoff Gillette said.

Police then discovered the vehicle, a 2000 Honda Civic, was reported stolen on Monday out of Livermore, Gillette said. Officers pursued the car to the 700 block of Contada Circle, where the two suspects fled on foot, according to Gillette. Police quickly found Amy Ramos, who was hiding in a nearby van. Around 11:20 a.m., officers found Christopher Ramos, who was hiding in a resident’s garage in the neighborhood, Gillette said.

Police arrested Christopher Ramos on suspicion of driving a stolen car, possession of stolen property, evading police and evading police while driving the wrong way on the road. Amy Ramos was arrested on suspicion of possessing stolen property, possessing drug paraphernalia and violation of her probation. Both were booked into the Martinez Detention Facility.
